Ryan

I’ve been walking flea markets and garage sales since I could barely keep up with my grandfather, who taught me the tough—but valuable—lessons of buying and selling. My lifelong passion for history naturally drew me to antiques and the kinds of items that carry stories from long ago.

Ten days after graduating high school, I enlisted in the Marine Corps and headed to Parris Island. I served four years as a Military Police K9 handler, head K9 trainer, and Kennel Master. The Marine Corps taught me how to connect with people, stay disciplined, and lead with integrity. Working as a police officer sharpened my compassion, problem-solving skills, and sense of community.

After my service, I spent six years as a government contractor conducting security operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. I was fortunate to work on strong, cohesive teams—an experience that only reinforced my drive to succeed.

When I was ready to start a family, I hung up the contracting life. Today, I’m a proud father of two. Knowing my kids are always watching pushes me to lead from the front—whether it’s volunteering with their school PTO, helping serve food in the high school cafeteria, or putting in extra hours at their sporting events.

Everything I’ve done—military service, law enforcement, contracting, and fatherhood—has shaped who I am: someone who values integrity, hard work, and preserving the stories behind the items I find.

Madeline

Hi, I’m Madeline Hanes, proud co-owner of Lucky Larry’s—our family’s estate clean-out business built on honesty, compassion, and hard work. As a mom of two energetic girls and a full-time healthcare professional, I’ve learned how to juggle a lot at once, but also how important it is to show up for people with care and dedication. Those values are at the heart of everything we do at Lucky Larry’s.

Our family is deeply rooted in our community, and giving back is a big part of who we are. I serve as the PTO Secretary at my daughters’ elementary school, I sit on the school board, and my husband and I volunteer regularly to support local events, programs, and anything that strengthens the place our kids call home.

Whether we’re helping a family downsize, clean out a loved one’s estate, or find a new home for treasured belongings, we approach every job the same way we approach life—together, with kindness, respect, and a commitment to making a difficult process a little easier.

I began helping out with Lucky Larry’s when I moved back to Pennsylvania about three years ago. In addition to assisting with cleanouts and offering business ideas, I’m also the tech guy behind our YouTube videos, this website, and—potentially—a future podcast.

I truly believe in what Lucky Larry’s stands for. Ryan is one of the most honest and loyal people I’ve ever known—when he says he’ll do something, he does it. He and Madeline have built something special with this business, and I’m excited to be a part of it as we grow.

Our mission is simple: to help people, especially during challenging or transitional moments in their lives. It’s common to feel overwhelmed when faced with a house full of belongings, and that’s exactly where we step in. If you’re unsure where to start or just need some guidance, reach out. We’re happy to help!
